Ysobel Banfield

I am a painter and printmaker and have been creating art since completing my B.A. (Hons) in Fine Art at Sunderland University in 1995.
My work is influenced by the landscapes around me and the natural forms and wildlife that I observe.
My paintings are an expressive and atmospheric response to being in the landscape. The perpetual motion of nature verses man is a theme that runs throughout my work where I am constantly challenged by the depiction of landscape.
I often use ‘found objects’ that I collect while out in the landscape to produce illustrations and prints. This rich source of information allows me to explore different aspects of the landscape and create art through a range of mediums including watercolour, collage, relief print and intaglio.
My current work reflects the coastal landscape between the South Downs and Chichester Harbour.
